SeaComb Review By Shore Life Florida
SeaComb, Fixing Forgetful Surfers
For the most part, surfers are forgetful creatures, sprinting for the door when the surf is pumping, often forgetting the most basic of necessities like boardshorts, water, keys. So when a product comes along that is not only dummy proof, but compensates for the other things forgotten when the swell is here, then Shore Life Florida has to have a go at testing it out.

In terms of surf industry evolution, the surf comb is on the bottom of the food chain when it comes to ground breaking technology, overshadowed by short boards, tri-fins, surf leashes, even wax. Essentially a resin squeegee sliced up for a sharp toothed edge, the comb lets you rough up the wax to give more stick when out in the water. Great for stick, a pain—literally—to store. They are usually sharp as hell; I can’t tell you how many times the damn comb twisted in my pocket and stabbed my leg, either when sitting on the board or falling, as per usual. And that is only if I remembered the comb in the first place, which, for the most part, I don’t.
Step in a clever little wax comb device coming straight from Jupiter’s own SeaComb. The SeaComb is an adhesive contraption that sticks straight to the board, holding a small wax comb in place for use when needed. I was apprehensive at first, seeing that not only is this thing about a quarter inch thick (a low profile but still something in the way), but most adhesive I have seen come undone quite quickly in salt water. But after slapping it on a board and taking it out for a few sessions, the SeaComb is still sticking in place—I am truly surprised.
The key to SeaComb is finding a place to stick it so that is out of the way. I slapped mine on right next to the leash plug on the deck of the board; out of the way from any kind of action, while not hampering the boards performance during the ride.
The other great thing about SeaComb is that the little buggers float! How many times have you tossed a piece of wax or comb to someone in the line up just to see it sink to the bottom like a stone? These brightly colored pieces of plastic float like a boat bro, its awesome. So go and grab one of these things, they’re cheap, $5, and they come with four combs, so its alright if you lose one.
But truly, the best thing about this whole contraption is now you don’t have to stop at the shop for a stick of wax or try to salvage that melted hunk of wax in your trunk to give your board some stick, robbing you of precious minutes in the water. Finally, a product that actually works and combats one of surfers’ biggest character flaws: forgetfulness.
